American InterContinental University Online Ranks Among Top 100 Schools for Hispanic Students

CHICAGO, June 30, 2009 – AAmerican InterContinental University Online ranks among the top 100 four‐year institutions awarding bachelor’s degrees to Hispanic students, according to The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education Magazine.

AIU Online ranks 84 th in the latest roster, which covers the number of degrees awarded to Hispanic students in the 2007‐2008 academic year ending June 30, 2008. AIU Online granted bachelor’s degrees to 295 Hispanic students, representing 8 percent of the bachelor’s degrees granted by the university that school year. The most popular degree, measured by the current Hispanic enrollment, is the bachelor’s degree in business administration, with 15 percent pursuing that track.

More than six percent of the more than 78,000 AIU alumni are Hispanic. From 2007 to 2008, AIU recorded a nine percent increase in enrollment of Hispanic students and expects another significant increase in the year ending June 30.
