AIU Announces English as a Second Language (ESL) Course Offerings

September 17, 2010

Weston, Fl. (Sept. 17, 2010) – American InterContinental University (AIU) will begin offering English as a Second Language (ESL) courses starting Oct. 4 at its South Florida campus.   The 10-week course is available at four levels of study which range from basic English to advanced English, cover listening, speaking, writing, reading and grammar. The courses are designed to help adults improve their English language skills and help them advance their personal and professional goals.

“AIU recognizes the increasing demand of non-English speaking adults in our community who are hungry for better professional opportunities, yet struggle when it comes to seeking opportunities that require English proficiency skills,” said Dr. Fabian Cone, program chair of general education and learning services, AIU South Florida. “We are pleased to offer our new ESL courses to help these individuals fortify their English-language skills and better prepare them for the workforce.”

Non-degree and degree-seeking students can enroll starting as early as Sept. 23.  The courses will offer a variety of techniques such as role playing, simulation, total physical response and pen pal dialogue journals.  The AIU ESL program offers flexible scheduling with weekday, evening and weekend classes that accommodate students’ busy schedules.
