American InterContinental University Named Top Military Friendly School
September 14, 2009
Hoffman Estates, Ill. (Sept. 14, 2009) – American InterContinental University (AIU) announced today that it was named a top military friendly school by G.I Jobs Magazine. This annual list includes the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools, which are doing the most to embrace America’s veterans as students.
“AIU strives to do all it can to make the learning experience a smooth and successful transition for our nation’s service men and women,” says Stephen J. Tober, CEO of AIU and President of AIU Online. “I am proud that AIU has been included on this list, and it’s a testament to our continued effort to embrace our country’s veterans and active military. In fact, nearly one-third of our students are affiliated with the military.”
G.I. Jobs Magazine surveyed more than 7,000 schools nationwide to create the 2010 list. To be included on the list, schools had to meet a set of criteria including efforts to recruit and retain military and veteran students, results in recruiting military and veteran students and academic accreditation.
AIU continues to serve military students by developing policies and programs that make education possible for these students and their families. AIU recently announced that it is a full participant in the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill and Yellow Ribbon program, which allows qualified veterans to receive grants to help cover tuition and fees equal to the most expensive in-state undergraduate education at a public university. AIU generally accepts military training as transfer credit and offers a Freedom Grant to qualified military students. For more information about AIU, visit www.aiuniv.edu.
