Transcript Evaluation
At American InterContinental University, we recognize that there are differences in the US and international educational systems and will take this into account when we evaluate your transcript(s).
AIU accepts credits from institutions accredited by any accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education including U.S. accredited international institutions. If you are submitting an English transcript from an accredited Title-IV-eligible institution located abroad, we will evaluate it the same way we evaluate transcripts submitted from accredited schools within the U.S.
We will compare your academic credentials to educational programs in the U.S. and place you at the educational level that suits your educational background. Your transcript will be evaluated considering the following criteria:
- Registration with the country's governing academic body
- Course or degree subject area
- Grading scale or criteria
- Unit of credit
- Course or degree descriptions
- Third-party analysis of country's degree comparability to U.S. degree
AIU reserves the right to individually evaluate international credentials or to refer them to a credential evaluation service.
Several transcript evaluation services are available to students. Acceptable evaluations may only come from evaluation services that are a member of NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc.). AIU Online will consider evaluations and/or recommendations directly from AACRAO (American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers).
Prospective students are required to request translation for any non-English documents and are responsible for all translation costs incurred.
Not all credits eligible to transfer. See the University’s catalog regarding AIU's transfer credit policies.
