AIU Atlanta Seminar: Director Ava DuVernayAIU Atlanta is pleased to announce that director Ava DuVernay will be on campus Friday, September 28th, to discuss her latest feature film, Middle of Nowhere, which won her the top directing prize at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.

Ava is the first African American woman director to receive this honor. Ms. DuVernay has many directing credits, including: I Will Follow and the acclaimed documentary, This is The Life. Ava has worked as a strategist for many distinguished directors, including Steven Spielberg and Michael Mann. She is the founder of AFFRM, the African American Film Festival Releasing Movement, a theatrical distribution company for independent black filmmakers. Ms. DuVernay is a graduate of UCLA.
