The lines between the role of the fashion designer and that of the fashion marketer often become blurred, with one person assuming the responsibilities of both. Even when those lines are clear, the interaction between the designer and the marketer can be more productive if each understands the other's role.

The goal of the BFA program in Fashion Marketing and Design with a specialization in Fashion Marketing is to help students develop their fashion design and garment construction skills, resulting in the creation of a design portfolio and also learn the business end of the fashion industry.

In this industry-focused curriculum, students can have an opportunity to learn how to research trends, target the customer and create a marketing plan.

This AIU BFA in Fashion Marketing and Design gives students an opportunity to become knowledgeable about the wide variety of functions and steps associated with getting fashion designs to the consumer. In this curriculum, students can learn how to:

  • Study the fashion industry, its products, markets, how consumer needs and characteristics affect areas such as production, management, sourcing, marketing, and merchandising.
  • Analyze the quality of design, materials, and construction techniques that are used in commercially produced and hand-made textiles, apparel, and accessories.
