With the rapid expansion of the Internet, the web now plays an integral role in the operation of modern business. From commerce to communication, entertainment to manufacturing and practically every industry in between, companies now rely on their websites for day-to-day business operations.

The goal of the BFA with a specialization in Web Design is to help students prepare with the industry-current knowledge and skills in the design, development and maintenance of websites and their servers.

In this industry-focused curriculum, students can learn how to apply graphic design techniques to develop effective, aesthetically pleasing and useful websites.

The AIU BFA with a specialization in Web Design gives students the opportunity to learn the principles, practical applications and methodologies used in completing competent and creative design solutions. In this curriculum, students can learn how to:

  • Ability to visually communicate complex concepts and information, developing designs through creative research, experiment, development, testing and evaluation.
  • Ability to apply effective critical analysis throughout a design brief, from concept to completion, evolving solutions relevant to context and audience.
  • Knowledge of the tools and technologies used in the web design industry, and of their relevant application – including drawing, photography, digital design applications, current web technologies, time-based interactive media.
  • An understanding of a breadth of cultural. Aesthetic, historical, ethical, and theoretical issues relevant to graphic design.
  • An understanding of current business environment and practice in the field of web design, including experience of project management and team work.
