This Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) degree program is a comprehensive, industry-specific program designed to help prepare students to pursue an interest in the diverse field of IT. Coursework is structured to assist them in the development of their goals as they acquire the knowledge and skills common to a wide variety of information technology professionals.

From mission-critical business systems to e-commerce and the Internet, information technology is not only an industry in its own right but also a fundamental building block of all other industries.

The goal of the BIT program is to help students acquire not only technical knowledge and hands-on abilities but also key skills in areas including leadership, behavioral understanding, change management and project management.

In this industry-focused curriculum, students can explore hands-on projects such as building websites, databases and wireless networks, as well as installing computer components and investigating digital evidence and discuss future trends in information technology.

The AIU BIT program can equip students with the technical and commercial understanding needed to pursue opportunities in a high-tech field or in any organization that relies on IT. In this curriculum, students can learn how to:

  • Identify and implement various operating systems and computer networks.
  • Apply the principles of programming to develop applications.
  • Design and implement database systems.
  • Research and evaluate various career opportunities in information technology.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies in the application of appropriate information systems to manage and achieve organizational goals and objectives.
