Master of Education (M.Ed.): Specialization in Adult Education and Training
The Master of Education Degree at AIU can provide a solid foundation for an effective educational practice and an opportunity for career advancement for many levels of educational practitioners including K-12, higher education, and corporate learning. This degree program is available with a specialization in Adult Education and Training. Students who pursue a specialization in Adult Education and Training can develop a solid foundation in learning theory, instructional design, and instructional technology, as well as application of educational research methods.

The Adult Education and Training specialization can help enhance skills for individuals to teaching adult students in various settings, including workplace training, professional development, and continuing education programs. Graduates can learn knowledge in the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs in a plethora of learning settings.
In this program, students can learn how to:
- Use appropriate methods to analyze and document needs of adult learners in academic and organizational settings.
- Apply andragogical theory along with appropriate motivation theories in the design of learning events for adults, both individual and groups.
- Illustrate methods and processes associated with a range of remedial to advanced adult learners for successful learning results.
- Develop an evaluation plan for both individual as well as classroom-based learning events, including formative and summative evaluation, applying at least one recognized model for evaluation of learning, and a recognized model for return on training investment.

In addition to core courses focused on helping to build a solid foundation of knowledge in learning theory, instructional design and the application of educational research methods, this M.Ed. with a specialization in Adult Education and Training includes courses taught by instructors, many who have an understanding of the importance of institutional administration of educational programs. The experiences and firsthand perspectives they may share in class can help prepare you for real-life challenges after you graduate.
