Master of Education (M.Ed.): Specialization in Educational Assessment and Evaluation
This Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree program with a specialization in Educational Assessment and Evaluation gives students an opportunity to learn how to assess an organization's existing evaluation system, recognize and critique valid evaluation instruments and manage an organization's evaluation system, including certification programs. Courses in the Master’s in Educational Assessment specialization are structured to assist students in the development of their goals as they can learn industry-current knowledge and skills common to educators specializing in an educational assessment training program.

The goal of the M.Ed. with a specialization in Educational Assessment and Evaluation is to challenge students to examine the scope of evaluation processes and how those processes fit into other organizational operating systems.
This program can focus on the principles and procedures for generating information about educational programs, personnel and methods, and the analysis of such information for planning purposes. The program can includes instruction in evaluation theory, evaluation research design and planning, administering evaluations and related data collection activities, data reporting requirements, data analysis and interpretation, and related economic and policy issues.
The AIU M.Ed. with a specialization in Educational Assessment and Evaluation can give students an opportunity to examine how to create an evaluation plan, including how to interpret and present results from complex evaluation data to parents, managers or other stakeholders. In this program, students can learn how to:
- Assess an organization's existing evaluation system and make recommendations for improvements.
- Recognize and critique valid evaluation instruments and select appropriate instruments for environment and task.
- Describe benefits and requirements for use of organization-wide evaluation databases and online data collection systems.
- Appraise an organization's evaluation system, including certification programs.
- Develop an electronic portfolio demonstrating evaluation and research skills.

In addition to core courses that can be focused on the building a solid foundation of knowledge in learning theory, instructional design and the application of educational research methods, this M.Ed. with a specialization in Educational Assessment and Evaluation includes career-relevant courses that are taught by instructors, many of whom have specialized knowledge of the importance of evaluation systems and their effective organizational deployment. The experiences and firsthand perspectives they could share in class can help prepare you for real-life challenges after you graduate.
