Jon has been a self-employed photographer for over 30 years with extensive experience in the profession including work alongside top fashion and advertising photographers: starting with eight years as assistant to Norman Parkinson (Fashion). He has also worked with (R.H) Snowdon (Fashion), Peter Williams (Advertising), Robert Dowling (Advertising), Arthur Massey (Advertising) and Tony Stone (Stock Library).

As a photographer in his own business Jon has worked with top glamour and beauty clients: Gucci and Vogue magazine, Argos, Alders Fashion, News of the World magazine, The Telegraph Photo library, Images Photo Library, and P&O. With two books published in UK, USA and Russia, "Beauty & Glamour Photography" (David and Charles Publishing).

Jon's advertising experience has taken him to locations all over the world. His clients include: BP, Dunlop, The Telegraph newspaper, Parker Pens, Saatchi and Saatchi Advertising, Greys Advertising, B.P. Dixon's, Argos, Monsanto, P&O, Athena, the BBC, Bowens International Lighting, British Airways, Saga and Cosmos Holidays.

In addition to his work at AIU London, Jon is a visiting lecturer at Glasgow University, The Fuji Film School, The Royal Photographic Society, P&O, The British Institute of Professional Photographers and Brooks Institute of Photography in LA. He also conducts workshops for professional photographers through Bowens Lighting and Calumet Photographic.

At AIU London, as well as teaching within the Visual Communication Programme, Jon Gray also conducts Fashion Photography and Styling workshops for Fashion Design & Marketing students. He led the 2006 Photographic study tour to South Africa for students from AIU London and teaches Fashion Photography to students on our Study Abroad Programme in Paris every Summer.
