@Marcus: Times and locations are determined with many factors taken into consideration. While I don't know the exact reasoning behind the choice of Friday for this event, I'd suggest letting someone at the school know about your concerns through your student advisor. Also, achievement awards for Associate and Bachelor's degree grads will be announced at the ceremony as well. @Javier: So far, there is only one Houston ceremony scheduled, but there will likely be a later fall ceremony as well. Details to come.

I see that there is only 1 ceremony scheduled in Houston for June. Will AIU add another ceremony after August. I am in the military and deploy a couple of months after my last day of class. I want to be able to walk in the ceremony before then.

During the upcoming graduation will there be achievment awards given out for the Graduate students such as magna cum laude, cum laude etc?

Marcus Pollard February 07, 2011 at 03:09 PM

I noticed that the graduation for the Atlanta campus is on April 22,2011. This is a friday, is it common place to schedule the graduation on a friday or was there a problem with a saturday date. I ask because it seems odd that such an important day would be scheduled during the work week

@Trellany: So far, only one S. Florida ceremony is planned. Yes, you could also attend the Atlanta graduation ceremony if you prefer. Please contact your campus Career Services department for details. @Whitney and Chris: The Atlanta ceremony begins at noon local time at the Atlanta Civic Center. Graduates should arrive at 7:30am for rehearsal. @Treva: Thanks for your suggestion. For Online at least, there was a Virtual Campus announcement posted on 12/22/2010 regarding graduation ceremonies. Please contact graduation@aiuonline.edu or your campus Career Services departments for all other questions regarding graduation ceremonies.

I just happened accross the graduation date for 2011 announcement. I would like to suggest that this type information be posted as an annoucement within the student portal to ensure the information is getting out to potential graduates. I had to hunt it down as a student which I found discouraging as I would look for information concerning active students inside the student portal before looking at the AIU general website. Just a suggestion. Thank you for an opportunity to share my thoughts.
