Chicago, May 4, 2009 – American InterContinental University (AIU), which offers flexible and accessible education options for adults, and Women Employed, a leading national advocacy organization for women's economic advancement, today launched WomenAchieve.org, a new online resource for women seeking to advance their education and career options and improve the lives of their families.

WomenAchieve.org Web Site Offers Help to Those Seeking Education, Career Guidance CHICAGO, May 4, 2009 – American InterContinental University (AIU), which offers flexible and accessible education options for adults, and Women Employed, a leading national advocacy organization for women’s economic advancement, today launched WomenAchieve.org, a new online resource for women seeking to advance their education and career options and improve the lives of their families.
The website, designed as a support network and a “go-to” resource, provides information about higher education, careers, work-life balance, child care, education finances and many other topics. It is also a networking site that connects women with others facing similar issues.
“In today’s tough job market, many women are heading back to school for additional education,” said Stephen Tober, AIU’s interim chief executive officer. “The site, WomenAchieve.org, offers a supportive environment for women as well as information and resources needed to help make their transition easier.”
The site includes innovative tools and resources, including:
- discussion forums about issues ranging from parenting and education to employment and family finances.
- blog posts by regular contributors including industry professionals and women who have overcome significant obstacles to achieve success.
- resource lists and other tools to help women identify the education programs or career paths that might be best for them, and information about how to pursue those dreams.
In addition, accomplished women are profiled in a “Spotlight on Success” feature. For example, an interview with former U.S. Senator and Ambassador Carol Moseley Braun (D., Ill.) is currently highlighted. Another feature, “Inspiring Women,” showcases the stories of everyday women who have triumphed over substantial odds to achieve success.
“We know that education is a proven strategy for raising women’s wages, but that working women who are raising families need unique supports to succeed in college,” said Anne Ladky, executive director of Women Employed. “WomenAchieve.org creates a guide and forum to help women find the resources they need to help themselves and their families.”
