AIU London Celebrates Thanksgiving Through Charity

Wednesday the 21st of November was the annual Marylebone Project women’s shelter Thanksgiving luncheon. This year AIU London has once again teamed up with the Marylebone Project to bring awareness to a cause that is affecting so many different women in London and the surrounding area. The event has become a tradition at AIU London with a number of students volunteering with members of faculty.
The afternoon event saw all the volunteers help prepare and serve the lunch to the ladies and making them feel special. Bringing somewhat of a national awareness to the project, celebrity chef Aldo Zilli and model/presenter Lizzie Cundy came to show their support. Both of them added that, “the American spirit is a great way to bring people together and getting involved with the Marylebone project along with the students from AIU is delightful.”
Dr. Randolf Cooper, Campus Director and Vice President of Academic Affairs at AIU London, which is also based in Marylebone, said: "Thanksgiving was first formally celebrated in America by the Pilgrims during the autumn of 1621. The 53 surviving Pilgrims celebrated their successful harvest, as was the English custom. Today Americans celebrate Thanksgiving without a religious connotation; the emphasis is on abundance and family. We are happy to share that spirit with the community and delighted that our students can be involved in supporting a local charity such as the Marylebone Project."
AIU is proud to have been a part of this event again this year, we hope to see the project go from strength to strength as it is all for a good cause. We hope to be a part of it next year with more volunteers!
