Whether your area of interest or expertise is information technology, business or design, chances are it’s becoming increasingly specialized, demanding from you more in-depth knowledge of a sub-discipline to focus more intensely on a field of interest.

Specialization is a way for a student to develop an extensive skill and expertise. It also allows the student to improve the quality of his or her product or service. For the student, a specialization helps the student to focus and target a specific industry rather than having an unfocused plan.

American InterContinental University is meeting the needs of the market by offering industry-specific education in both campus and online settings. AIU’s degrees are industry-current to help meet the complex needs of today’s environment.

Here are ways AIU helps students find a specialized path that can help the student learn valuable skills:

  • Information technology: Students can earn Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with specializations in digital investigations, network administration, information assurance and security, or IT project management.
  • Design: Specialized Associate and Bachelor’s degrees are offered in fashion design, interior design and visual communications. Each also offers several sub-specialties. For instance, fashion majors can specialize in fashion retailing, fashion marketing or costume design. Interior design majors can choose commercial or residential design. And visual communications majors can specialize in Web design, illustration or graphic design.
  • Criminal justice: Lovers of criminal justice can formalize their knowledge with specialties in law enforcement, corrections and case management, or forensic science.
  • Education: The Master’s degree program offers specializations in curriculum and instruction, educational assessment and evaluation, adult education and training, instructional design and technology, classroom integration of technology, and leadership of educational organizations.

Degree programs and availability vary by campus. Programs and specializations may vary by degree level.
