Program Policies – Transfer Credit

To be accepted into the AIU Study Abroad Program, you will be required to submit an official transcript from your home institution. This can be sent separately from your application; however, final acceptance to the AIU Study Abroad Program is contingent upon receipt and review of your official transcript.

For all students who recently completed a term abroad though American InterContinental University:

  • An official transcript is mailed directly to the student's home school approximately 4 weeks after completing the study abroad term, as long as the student is not on academic hold and all fees are paid. Please allow sufficient time for the college/university to receive and process the transcript. For students spending multiple terms studying abroad, transcripts and grade mailers will be mailed after each term completed.
  • Please remember to keep copies of all syllabi and coursework, as many colleges and universities will request to see work before processing any potential transfer credit.
  • Grade mailers are sent to each student's permanent address once grades are released (approximately 4 weeks after each term). AIU will not release student grade information over the phone.

To find out whether an academic or financial hold has been placed on a student account, or to verify the address to which a transcript was sent, please contact the AIU Study Abroad program at 1-800-255-6839.
