Schaumburg, Ill. (Jan. 13, 2014) — For the seventh year in a row, American InterContinental University (AIU™) has been named a Top Military-Friendly school in Military Advanced Education’s (MAE) 2014 Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges & Universities.
“We continually look for ways to improve our offerings to military students and their spouses, and I am gratified that Military Advanced Education has recognized our level of commitment once again,” said Richard Kennedy, Director of Military Relations at AIU.
AIU is one of the few schools in the United States that trains its faculty and staff to understand the unique needs of military students and their families.
MAE’s 2014 Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges & Universities provides students with information about institutions that demonstrate exemplary services to military members and veterans.
“Our staff used strict criteria to evaluate the submissions of respondents, and we had a record number of schools participating this year,” MAE Editor Kelly Fodel said.
Other attributes considered in evaluating AIU for inclusion in the guide were:
Flexibility: AIU offers all of its online students anywhere, anytime, 24/7 online access to course lectures, resources, grades and reference materials, plus round-the-clock support by phone, email or live chat.
Transfer policy: AIU’s generous transfer-in policy gives students credit for eligible work, military or previous college experience. Programs like ACE Credits, the CLEP exams, DSST exams and transfer credit review meetings with AIU advisors can help military students earn college-level credits for their skills, knowledge and professional experience.
Veteran and active-duty assistance: AIU Financial Aid Advisors specialize in assisting military students with getting the most from their benefits. AIU’s Veterans Grant and Yellow Ribbon Grant are both specifically available to veterans. Recently, AIU lowered its military tuition rate for active duty, reserve and National Guard members. Deployment holds give active-duty military students the option to put their education on hold during an assignment.
Military family support: AIU Online has also established a 10 percent tuition grant for all spouses of active duty, Reserve and National Guard members to assist you in financing your education.
Presence on military installations: AIU supports its large military population with military graduation ceremonies, education fairs and transition assistance presentations at bases across the United States.
AIU’s inclusion the MAE 2014 Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges & Universities is among the many acknowledgements the school has received for its extensive military programs. AIU has also been named on the Top Military Friendly School List by Victory Media, publisher of GI Jobs Magazine, for five years running. From 2009 to 2013, AIU was recognized on Military Times Edge “Best for Vets” list.
