ATLANTA, GEORGIA, July 27, 2007 – More African-Americans graduated with bachelor’s degrees in business from American InterContinental University’s online campus (AIU Online) than from any other individual university campus in the United States during the 2005-06 school year, a report by Diverse Issues in Higher Education reveals. The most recent data also found that AIU Online ranks among the nation’s top institutions bestowing associate, bachelor’s, and master’s degrees in several other disciplines to minority students. AIU Online ranked within the top ten campuses in the following categories:
“At AIU Online, providing a high quality education" that is accessible to a culturally-diverse and geographically-dispersed student body has always been our priority,” said Dr. George Miller, Chief Executive Officer of American InterContinental University. “We are proud of the fact that Diverse Issues in Higher Education recognizes that AIU successfully serves students who are traditionally underrepresented in academia. AIU Online provides access to a flexible education and an opportunity for students to improve their lives by attending university courses on their own schedules, and without regard to geographic obstacles.”
The Diverse Issues in Higher Education report recognizes institutions where minority students earn undergraduate and graduate degrees across all academic disciplines as well as in specific disciplines. Data for the yearly report is provided by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) through the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS).
