AIU Alumni Mentoring Program

There’s nobody more qualified to share information about what it’s like to attend AIU than a successful AIU graduate! The AIU Alumni Mentor Program is designed to allow alumni to volunteer their time and interact with new AIU students. It is conversational, generally via email, between you and the student. It is not a tutoring role; rather, the goal is to support and encourage students as they embark on their AIU educational journey. Among the topics new students like to discuss with their mentor include:     

  • How and why you chose AIU to earn your degree
  • What you liked best and found most valuable about your experiences on the Virtual Campus or ground campus
  • How your education fit into your personal and professional life
  • How quickly you acclimated to the learning environment
  • How much time you devoted to your studies

Mentors are asked to commit to serve their students – who must initially reach out to their assigned mentor if they are interested - for a full quarter (two sessions). Many mentors find the experience quite rewarding, and they frequently volunteer regularly. The primary rules governing the mentor program include: 

  • You must be a graduate of at least one AIU program
  • You are asked to respond to students within 24-48 hours of receiving an email
  • Copy (cc:) the Alumni Association (alumni@aiuniv.edu) on all emails with students
