World War I ended on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day in the
eleventh month in 1918. Since then, November 11th has been reserved as
the day that America remembers the sacrifices that military service
members have made to help ensure the peace and security of our country.
Originally known as Armistice Day, the name of the holiday was
officially changed to Veterans Day in 1954.
On behalf of AIU
faculty and staff, thank you to the military service members, past and
present, who have helped our nation endure some of its most difficult
challenges. And a special thanks goes out to our students who have
served and continue to serve in our nation's military. On no day is our
thanks more appropriate than November 11th, Veterans Day.
