As a student it is not uncommon to decide that your initial choice for college doesn’t suit your actual needs and goals. Sometimes life takes over, and post-secondary education is deferred to handle the requirements of work and family, but other times you realize your current school just isn’t a good fit.
American InterContinental University offers generous credit transfer programs that can allow you to build on your previous collegiate and employment experiences, reducing the time necessary to complete your degree and saving you money.
Pending academic review, AIU accepts credits from any United States institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education. AIU also reviews requests for transfer credit from international higher education institutions.
AIU offers the following ways for students to take advantage of their collegiate and life experiences, advancing their educational placement to the next level:
Academic experience: AIU has entered into formalized transfer agreements with post-secondary institutions through its Academic Educational Alliances Program that include a simplified transcript evaluation process for their former students.
Military experience: Military training and occupational specialties can be considered using the ACE Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services.
Work and Life experience: AIU recognizes that college-level learning can take place outside the classroom. That’s why the university offers Prior Learning Assessment for the adult student to demonstrate mastery of college-level knowledge and skills in fulfillment of lower-level degree requirements.
Standardized examinations: High school students can earn advanced placement credit by testing out of certain courses. Students may also be able to take CLEP, DANTES/DSST, or Challenge examinations to test out of certain courses.
Whether you apply online or to campuses in Atlanta, Houston, South Florida or London, university officials will make admission decisions on an individual basis following undergraduate and graduate admissions policies.
*Not all credits eligible to transfer. See the University's catalog regarding our transfer credit policies. Acceptance of transfer credit is at the sole discretion of AIU.
