AIU London graduate Amber Raney-Kincade presented to a class of undergraduates about her career and experiences in marketing after graduation. She attended AIU London in 2002, receiving her MBA in International Marketing. She now runs her own business as a marketing consultant, specialising in assisting small businesses in marketing, social media and networking. (www.raney-kincade.co.uk) The students were able to hear about how she got into marketing, her experiences working as an American here in the UK, and how the marketing industry has changed in the last 10 years.
In particular, she stressed that no matter how the game has changed over the years, it is her foundations for marketing that she learned here at AIU-London that have carried her through her work experience. "It doesn't matter the shape or format that a new marketing channel presents itself, be it Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, the principles of marketing still apply. You have to know your audience, engage with them, and remain relevant in order to succeed, " Amber stressed.
Amber said that her research work and papers, which she still keeps today, were areas where she was able to "dig deep," and really soak up her educational basics. Recently, she as applied her marketing knowledge to promote her other love: tour guiding for the City of London. She specialises in providing walking tours for recently retired Americans who visit London.
