AIU celebrates its diverse student population. We believe International students bring uniquely global perspectives to our learning community.
The international student admissions process is designed to be as smooth as possible for incoming students.
- Prior to admission, international students must provide proof of English proficiency in the form of a TOEFL or other approved examination options. Learn more about AIU's English Proficiency Requirements.
- Prospective international students must provide documents and transcripts that show completion of a high school degree or equivalent. Learn more about AIU's Transcript Evaluation Process for International Students.
Transfer of College Credit
While AIU will review transcripts from international post-secondary institutions for credential evaluation, students will need to consult with an external credential evaluation service. International institutions must be licensed or officially recognized by the Education Department or Ministry of the country where the institution is in operation to be eligible for transfer of credit or degree status. Because of the time it can take for an evaluation to be completed by one of the approved evaluation institutions, AIU recommends students begin the evaluation process at the time of enrollment. For more detailed information about this process, read about AIU's Transcript Evaluation Process for International Students.
The United States government allows AIU offer federal financial aid to qualified United States citizens only. However, international students do have several options for financing their education. We encourage prospective international students to research funding options available through their country of residence. Private loans are also an option for qualified students.
