AIU Atlanta launched a new Peer to Peer Mentor Program July 9, 2012, under the leadership and direction of Janis Henry, campus Vice President of Student Affairs. Niki L. Banks, Student Services Advisor and SAP Evaluator at AIU Atlanta, will serve as the Project Officer for this exciting initiative.
The first order of business was a two-day Mentor Training Program for the Mentors who were specially chosen for this assignment. These Mentors have the singular purpose of assisting AIU Atlanta students, mainly new students in particular, in many ways along their path to a successful student learning experience. Services include:
- Helping first term students to accomplish a smooth transition into their college careers here at AIU Atlanta.
- Assisting students in their quest to be successful in all aspects of their pursuit of higher education.
- Serving as facilitators of accurate information and sound advice so as to create a “students helping students” environment within our AIU Atlanta Learning Community.
- Offer students another valuable resource to reach out to as they seek ways and means to achieve their goal of enhancing their lives through education.
The entire AIU Atlanta Learning Community strongly supports this exciting initiative and looks forward to seeing the results of such focused caring as the campus goes about the process of serving students while also delivering quality education, one student at a time.
If any student is interested in becoming a peer mentee, please contact Ms. Niki Banks at the number listed above, or via e-mail.
