AIU Atlanta Celebrates Graduation 2014 July 04, 2014 AIU Atlanta comments On Friday, June 27, American InterContinental University’s Atlanta campus celebrated its 2014 AIU graduation at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center. More than 285 graduates and their families attended the event. AIU Atlanta President Dr. Hisham Shaban opened the ceremony by reminding the 2014 class to enjoy every moment of the celebration, followed by Campus Director of Student Experience Janis Henry welcoming the graduates to their 2014 Commencement Ceremony. Also in attendance were AIU President Dr. George Miller, Nancy Mann, Dr. Robert T. Justis, Director of Institutional Effectiveness Chris Perry, Campus Ombudsman Pat Hawkins and AIU program chairs and faculty members. Student speaker Daronda Blassingame, an AIU MBA highest honors graduate, inspired everyone in attendance when she spoke about her personal struggles and sacrifices while achieving her degree. Commencement speaker Laura Davidson, Vice President at PMI Atlanta, reminded graduates of the importance of embracing change and maintaining a good attitude when working to achieve career goals. Master of Information Technology graduate Michelle McGrone provided the music for the ceremony with her rendition of the National Anthem and her original song “I'm Going to Try My Best.” The ceremony ended with an impromptu dance session on stage with Dr. Shaban, Janis Henry and all the AIU Atlanta Program Chairs.
