AIU Houston hosted its 2012 Graduation Commencement Ceremony on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 10:30am. The ceremony, held at the Bayou City Event Center in Houston, Texas, celebrated about 280 graduates. Over 2,000 guests were in attendance with standing room only.
Graduating student John Osiemo, who received his Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the ceremony, served as student speaker for the ceremony. Debbie Adams, President and Owner of a major Houston-area McDonalds Franchise, served as the Commencement Speaker for the ceremony. Ms. Adams owns and operates 31 McDonalds restaurants with over 1500 employees and annual sales of about $60M, making her franchise the largest McDonalds organization in the Houston Region.
Also in attendance were Dr. John Campbell, Vice Provost; Dr. Susan Malekpour; University Dean General Education and Dr. Richard Cai, University Dean for Information Technology. Special guests included Julia Machado Angola General Consulate in Houston; Jose Marcos Barrica, Ambassador of Portugal; and Candido Vandunem, Minister of Defense of Angola.
