HOFFMAN ESTATES, IL – July 14, 2003 –Responding to a U.S. Department of Labor projection that there will be over 2.8 million new healthcare related jobs by 2008, American InterContinental University Online (AIU Online), one of the fastest growing universities in North America, today launched a new School of Healthcare Management including a Bachelor’s in Business Administration (BBA) and a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in Healthcare Management.
“This degree will appeal to individuals interested in the business side of the healthcare field as well as business professionals already in the industry looking to accelerate their careers to senior positions,” said Nick Fluge, President of Career Education Corporation’s Online Education Group and Chief Operating Officer at AIU Online. “The rapid growth of jobs in this industry and the advances in healthcare technology make this a field with excellent career possibilities. The University’s BBA program is tailored to the healthcare industry and is relevant to individuals who are interested in hospital positions, medical practices, long-term care facilities, health insurance companies, nurses and pharmaceutical companies, among others.
The new MBA in Healthcare Management can be completed in just 10 months and is tailored to the individual who is looking to prepare for aforementioned senior and managerial positions in the healthcare industry. "We are definitely feeling the changes in the healthcare workforce. Through the associations we manage, we see transformation in the definition of membership and a shifting of traditional association boundaries. Those who are entering this industry and professionals seeking to advance their careers will benefit from a strong education tailored to the specific dynamics of the health care field,” said Mary Beth Hepp, director of the healthcare business unit at Smith, Bucklin & Associates, Inc. “Health care associations are now engaging constituents from insurance, pharmaceuticals, reimbursement, patient care and CMS industries in their organizations. The successful health care professional will be prepared to meet the needs of a changing and growing industry."
