What is the ESL program?
The English as a Second Language program (ESL) at American InterContinental University offers the opportunity for total immersion in the acquisition and improvement of the English language for speakers of other languages who need to converse in English more fluently in a short period of time.
For whom is this Program designed?
The ESL program is designed for those whose particular interest is the opportunity to better their quality of life, develop their business practices and/or continue their higher education at a university in the United States. The ESL program provides instruction in the skills of the language for international students, professionals and adults.
What are the sizes of each class?
Each class may have between 5 to 15 students.
What is the schedule?
We have two sessions: one in the morning from 8:30am to 12:30pm from Monday to Friday and one in the evening from 6:00pm to 10:00pm from Monday to Friday.
How many levels are in our ESL program?
There are four levels, each one lasts one academic quarter, 10 weeks.
How do I know which is the most appropriate level for me?
You must come to our campus and take our placement test in our computer lab. The test has two parts: reader understanding and listening comprehension.
After the test, there is an interview with one of our instructors that will determine upon your conversation skills which is the most appropriate level for you. The test and the interview have no cost for you. You can come and take it any time…just make an appointment.

Programa de Inglés Como Segundo Idioma (ESL)
¿Qué es el programa de ESL?
El programa de Inglés como Segunda Lengua “English as a Second Language - (ESL)”, ofrece capacitación en el perfeccionamiento del Inglés aumentando la capacidad del estudiante de conversarlo mejor en corto tiempo a través de una inmersión completa en el Idioma Inglés, en un ambiente académico y universitario.
¿Para quién está diseñado este programa?
El programa está diseñado para estudiantes internacionales, profesionales y adultos que desean mejorar su calidad de vida, implementar mejores prácticas en su negocio y/o continuar sus estudios en una universidad en los Estados Unidos. El programa de ESL en la AIU provee instrucción en todas las áreas del idioma Inglés.
¿Cuál es el tamaño de la clase?
Las clases son pequeñas y personalizadas con capacidad de 5-15 alumnos.
¿Qué días y horas son las clases?
Las clases se ofrecen de lunes a viernes de 8:30 am a 12:30 pm o de lunes a viernes de 6:00 pm a 10:00 pm. Cada trimestre es de diez semanas.
¿De cuantos niveles es el programa de ESL?
El programa de ESL consta de 4 niveles y cada nivel dura 10 semanas (2 ½ meses)
¿Cómo puedo saber qué nivel comenzaré?
Debe tomar un test por computadora en las instalaciones de la Universidad, la primera parte es de lectura y la segunda de escuchar.
Después del test, hay una entrevista con un profesor que va a evaluar sus habilidades en conversación y finalmente el mismo profesor recomienda cual es el nivel más óptimo para Usted. El test y la entrevista con el profesor son sin costo alguno y sin compromiso, puede venir a tomarlo en cualquier momento con cita previa.
Proximas clases se inician el 19 de Marzo del 2012.
