Online Learning Orientation

At AIU we know you are serious about getting your degree and fitting it into your busy lifestyle. Our mandatory online orientation is designed to make the transition to school as easy as possible. Students will also be introduced to the other resources we have at the Virtual Campus.

The purpose of the orientation is to provide students with a sample classroom experience before their scheduled class start date. It allows students the ability to explore the classroom format and begin their time management routine while also testing their knowledge in being able to navigate through the virtual classroom and submit assignments effectively. Students will become familiar with the layout of the Virtual Campus and class format so that when online classes start they will be able to focus on their studies. Orientation is essential to ensuring that all AIU Online students are equipped with knowledge of the tools and resources available to aid them.

Students will have access to the online orientation classroom for two weeks prior to the first official day of class. The orientation classrooms will be supervised by a student facilitator whose role is to ensure that assignments submitted are appropriate in nature and to provide assistance to students who need it. The only students exempt from orientation are continuing students and students who are re-entering school in fewer than 365 days. All other students must complete a pre-orientation, which will give you access to the online orientation classroom, and three assignments. The assignments are not graded so once a student submits them they will be given the full amount of points.
