You may have heard of AIU’s Student Success Center in downtown Chicago, but how can it help you get ahead and stay on top of your studies? Below, the Success Center team – Rachel Servi, Riccardo Wilson, Rafael Pasillas and Kashaun Collier share eight ways to take advantage of this resource.
1. Get Face-to-Face Interaction with AIU Staff
Whether you just happen to be in the downtown area, need to access our free Wi-Fi or just want a cool or hot beverage, come visit the Student Success Center. You can also spend time with Rachel, Riccardo, Rafael and Kashaun (and yes, it would easier if her name were Rashaun to stay consistent!) – any of these staff members can assist you with questions or concerns you may have about your AIU experience. They work hard to ensure that you’re getting everything you need from your student experience at AIU.
2. Utilize Our Computers
Experiencing computer crashes, a virus in your system or just want a change of atmosphere for completing homework assignments? Come to the Student Success Center to access any of the onsite computers for a few hours or even for a full day. Our computers are available to AIU students Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Fridays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and yes, we are even open Saturdays from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
3. Print eBooks
For students who prefer to have their reading materials in print and want to save some expense on ink cartridges, the Student Success Center has a solution for that as well. You can come print your eBooks here: one, two or as many as you need to ensure that you have all the materials you need to succeed.
4. Telephone Contact with all AIU Departmental Staff
The Student Success Center also offers private office space if you have scheduled telephone calls with your advisor or need to follow up with other AIU departments. And don’t forget, there are staff on site to assist you in navigating the process to ensure you connect with the right AIU department to move forward to with completing your degree.
5. Space for Study
Children, spouses, family members and friends can be very supportive to your educational process, but sometimes you just may need some peace and quiet to help you focus on your studies. The Student Success Center provides an atmosphere conducive to staying focused on your studies.
6. Connect with Other Online Students
We know that as an AIU Online student, sometime you may want to connect with other students for support or just a little socializing. The Student Success Center can offer you the opportunity to connect with other students to ask questions about their experiences and remind you that you are not in this alone.
7. Get an Overview of and/or Assistance with the Virtual Campus
Need assistance navigating the student portal, virtual campus, APA style or intellipath™? We are here to help you learn to utilize these platforms so that you can focus on your assignments and optimize your overall success.
8. Bring in a Friend Who is Interested in Pursuing Higher Education
If any of your friends or family are considering going back to school, the Student Success Center staff can talk with them about enrollment and how we can assist them in furthering their growth, career path and overall success.
We are located just north of the Willis Tower at 130 South Franklin, or you can call us at 312-419-1624 if you have questions, need directions to the center or just want a good downtown restaurant referral. Either way, the staff at the AIU Student Success Center are here to make sure that you have an exceptional student experience at AIU.
