AIU Houston Joins Houston West Chamber of Commerce in Saluting Veterans

American InterContinental University Houston (AIU Houston) joined the Houston West Chamber of Commerce for their Salute to Veterans event on Friday, November 2, 2012. The luncheon was held as a heartfelt tribute to the valiant men and women who have served in the U.S. military. AIU Houston was one of several local entities that sponsored the event.

After registration and opening music by the Lone Star Dixieland Band, attendees witnessed a flyover by the Commemorative Air Force West Houston Squadron. Lars Sloan of American Bagpipes played Taps during the Missing Man flyover.

Texas State Senator, the Honorable Dan Patrick of District 7, presented several "Heart of Service" awards to veterans who have served notable and noble causes during and after their military service.

Dr. Robert Ivany, Retired Major General of the United States Army, served as the keynote speaker. During his 34 years of service, Dr. Ivany held several amazing positions, including: Commandant of the War College; military aide to President Reagan, and even overseeing classified nuclear war plans.

AIU Houston would like to thank all veterans for their service and sacrifice.
