AIU was ranked by U.S. News & World Report on its list of the Best Online Bachelor’s Programs for Veterans in 2017. The honor recognized universities for providing active-duty troops and veterans with access to distance education that is affordable, accessible and reputable.
AIU Named Among Military Times Best: Colleges 2018
AIU has been named among the Military Times Best: Colleges 2018 rankings. Military Times’ annual survey—formerly known as “Best for Vets”—is the most comprehensive school-by-school assessment of veteran and military student services and rates of academic-achievement. As with all Military Times rankings, Best Colleges 2018 is an editorially independent news project that evaluates the many factors that help make colleges and universities a good fit for service members, military veterans and their families.

American InterContinental University was named " a TOP SCHOOL" in the Military Advanced Education 2017 Guide to Colleges and Universities. The accolade recognized the university for its dedication to making higher education accessible to military members, veterans and their families in four key areas: military culture, support services (including online support), financial services and flexibility.
2016 Learning Impact Award Winner
AIU’s Virtual Classroom earned a Gold Medal at the IMS Global 2016 Learning Impacts Awards, which honor the most powerful and influential uses of technology worldwide in support of student learning. The program seeks to identify repeatable implementation of "efficient IT" practices that can help institutions and educational authorities increase access, create personalized learning environments, improve student engagement and improve actionable assessment.
2015 Best of ELearning! Award Winner
ELearning! Magazine awarded AIU a 2015 Best of Elearning! Award for intellipathTM, the university’s proprietary adaptive learning platform. Recognized in the Best Adaptive Learning Content category, intellipath customizes the learning experience for individual students’ needs, allowing them to skip over what they already know and focus on what they still need to learn.
National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA)
AIU was the first university in the state of Illinois to be approved to operate under the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). Aimed at expanding distance education opportunities for students nationwide, NC-SARA is an agreement among member states, districts and territories that establishes comparable national standards for interstate postsecondary distance education courses and programs.
