Ways to Save

Earn Credit for Qualifying Prior Learning Experience

If you're transferring from one of the community colleges in Houston or returning to school after some time away, it's important to know whether your previous college experience will carry over to your new degree. At AIU Houston, we offer students a range of options and will work with you to evaluate the number of qualifying transfer credits that you may be able to apply toward your degree program requirements*.

We also strive to make the transition as smooth as possible for students transferring from one of the many community colleges in Texas. Our Prior Learning Assessment Advisors can help evaluate and determine eligible transfer credit from qualifying previous education and professional experience. They can also help by walking you through the process of transferring course credit from a community college or qualifying institution. Depending on the degree program and your previous college experience, you may be able to transfer up to 75% of the qualifying credits needed towards your degree, which may cut down on the time and coursework you'll need to finish out your degree.

*Transfer credit is evaluated on an individual basis. Not all credits are eligible to transfer. See the University Catalog for transfer credit policies.

Local Scholarships and Tuition Assistance

In addition to Financial Aid Advisors who can help guide you through completing your FAFSA, we also offer a number of grants and scholarships for students in Texas.
