Grad Profile: Aliciaett D.

Bachelor's in Business Administration, 2025
When Aliciaett enrolled at American InterContinental University, she kept it to herself. She didn’t tell her family, her friends, or even her kids. Not until she was nearly finished. “I wanted to accomplish something, be proud of myself, be a role model to my kids as well as my family,” she says. “No one’s graduated college, so I was going to be the first.”
Quietly, she got to work. That meant finding a school that actually fit her life as a working mom of two. Traditional campuses weren’t realistic. She needed a flexible schedule, an accessible path, and a team that would walk with her, not just process her paperwork. AIU checked every box.
“What stood out most wasn’t just the convenience, but the connection,” Aliciaett says. “From admissions to financial aid to faculty, I never felt like just another student. They called, checked in, and encouraged me every step of the way.” That support, she explains, made it possible to push through setbacks and stay focused while balancing school, parenthood, and bills.
With newly developed skills in human resources and business planning, Aliciaett created and pitched a proposal to help a transportation company launch a brokerage firm. This led to her landing a full-time role. “AIU helped me be more confident going into the meeting because I had all the materials that I needed and I knew exactly how to present them.”
Now, she’s starting that new job, building something from the ground up, and holding what no one ever expected, her own college degree.
