Alumnae Return to Inspire: A Night of Purpose and Possibility at AIU Atlanta

At a recent student reception hosted by American InterContinental University Atlanta, two powerhouse alumnae—Tamara McLemore, PMP®, PMI-ACP®, and Latesha Lynch—returned to share their powerful, deeply personal journeys. The evening focused on clarity, leadership, and the long, sometimes winding path to finding purpose. What unfolded was more than a panel—it was a moment of transformation.
“This shifted my whole mindset,” one attendee said. Another added, “Every word hit home.”
Latesha Lynch’s story especially resonated with students navigating their own academic and professional uncertainties. After struggling through multiple universities and major changes, she eventually found her stride through AIU’s online program. She credits AIU’s flexibility with giving her a path to graduation—and a launchpad for her remarkable career.
After freelancing on the side for years, a moment of clarity during a trip to Rome pushed her to go all-in on her business. Standing outside her hotel with her mom, she watched notifications roll in and realized her side hustle had become something more. That shift in mindset led her to take the leap. Since then, she’s helped over 1,000 women launch their own businesses—many with no background in marketing—and even employed her mother full-time.
Also that evening, Tamara McLemore, PMP®, PMI-ACP®, a seasoned project management executive and Chief Impact Officer, shared how her AIU MBA directly shaped her career. “When I think about the professors—they weren’t just book professors,” she said. “They were actually working in the industry.”
She often found herself applying classroom lessons immediately at work, bridging theory and practice in real time. “Even the classes I said I’d never use—managerial accounting—I needed them to manage $150 million projects.”
With over two decades of experience leading complex, multimillion-dollar IT and telecom initiatives across Fortune 500 companies, Tamara M. has built a reputation for execution, impact, and mentoring future leaders. As the founder of her own consulting firm and a sought-after speaker on project strategy and professional development, she brings a wealth of industry knowledge to everything she does—anchored in the practical, hands-on education she credits AIU with providing.
Together, Tamara and Latesha embodied what success looks like when education, resilience, and self-belief align. Their message was clear: your path doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful.
