Houston Student and Alumni Events
In addition to a bustling campus in Houston's Westchase District, American InterContinental University (AIU) students can enjoy an active roster of educational, professional and social events. One of the keys to a well-rounded college experience can include a balance of coursework and engaging extracurricular activities. We strive to ensure students have opportunities to explore a range of personal and educational interests.
Whether you're looking for advice to help you develop a new industry skill or just want meet other students, our numerous campus initiatives and student groups work to offer engaging events year-round.
Professional and Networking Events
College can be an important time to start making connections and forging relationships with other people in your field. Whether an event is hosted by AIU or in connection with a local business, we hold a number of different professional and networking events throughout the year. These activities may be focused on a specific field or skill set or solely designed to help you meet your peers (and future colleagues) in your chosen degree program as well as local Houston professionals.
Alumni Mentoring Live
We periodically host Alumni Live events giving students a chance to chat with AIU graduates. Topics may include anything from how to stay motivated and on-track while taking classes to specific strategies for preparing for the job market. These live chats are an important opportunity to benefit from the experience and hindsight of graduates who have faced similar challenges to those most current students face while completing an intensive academic program.
Online Employer Q&As
Employer Services sponsors a Meet the Employer series, which brings in hiring managers and executives from national companies to discuss the hiring process and what they look for in future employees. These Q&A sessions offer the chance to gain valuable insights into today's job market, as well as ask specific questions about job application materials, learn dos and don'ts of job interviews, and hear about currently available positions.
Serious Talk Webinars
Our Serious Talk series of webinars assembles a panel of industry professionals to discuss issues related to the job market, strategies for pursuing your degree while working full-time, and more. These free webinars are designed to offer insights into the college process that can help students feel more confident and secure moving into the next stages of their education.
Academic Achievement Ceremony
Our Dean's List & Academic Achievement Ceremony is an opportunity to come together as a campus each term. We recognize students for the Dean’s List, President’s Award, Academic Achievement and Perfect Attendance.
Special-Interest Lecture Series and Readings
Our faculty and student groups organize reading series and special lectures around a variety of interests and fields of study, from poetry readings and literature clubs to film screenings and industry roundtables. In addition to being a great way to meet students who share your interests outside your program of study, these events also provide students opportunities to foster faculty relationships.
International Club and Cultural Diversity Club
AIU Houston’s campus has active International and Cultural Diversity Clubs that periodically host educational and social events. In addition to highlighting the diverse backgrounds and cultures of our students, these gatherings are great opportunities for students and faculty to enjoy sharing and learning about international cultures.
Learning Center Events
The Learning Center periodically hosts events on campus, such as activities designed to help provide additional support for those working through their degrees.
