10:00 AM— Commencement ceremony begins
The commencement ceremony is approximately 2-2.5 hours in length.
Graduates must arrive at the venue to check-in with AIU staff at the check-in table. AIU staff will be there to direct and guide you to the check-in location. At check-in, graduates will receive honors or military recognition items along with line-up, procession and seating instructions.

Registration & Regalia Purchase
Graduates must register to participate in the ceremony and order their regalia on the Jostens registration site.
There are several steps that must be completed to successfully order your regalia and register for a commencement ceremony. Please Review the Commencement Registration Guide before getting started!

Special Regalia Circumstances
The official AIU cap and gown must be worn to ensure uniformity among graduates.
- If a graduate has an AIU gown from the Associate’s program and is graduating from a Bachelor’s program, the same gown can be worn. The appropriate programmatic stole must be purchased on through Jostens while registering.
- Master’s graduates, who own a cap and gown from an undergraduate program, must order the Master’s regalia to receive the master’s gown and hood.
- For other unique circumstances please contact AIUgraduation@aiuniv.edu for ordering assistance or questions.
Tickets and Seating
Tickets are not issued. Seats are first come, first serve; families should arrive early for priority seating. We ask for graduates to limit their guest number to a reasonable amount to respect fellow graduates and guests.
Graduates will be photographed on stage and during the commencement. Photographs will be available for purchase several weeks post-graduation. Purchasing information will be sent to graduates via email.

Graduation Student Speaker
If you are interested in submitting a speech to be considered as the Houston ceremony’s student speaker, please email your speech to AIUgraduation@aiuniv.edu by Friday, June 16, 2017. Speeches will be reviewed and selected graduates will be contacted.
